Mitt Romney's running for president in 2012.
Some of my Republican friends have already taken to derisively calling him "Romneycare" because of the health care plan he passed as governor of Massachusetts, which resembles President Obama's health care reform.
Nationally, many analysts think his Mormon beliefs will work against him among the GOP base. I don't see why. Mormonism is the American Exceptionalism of Christianity. Perhaps it's not hateful enough for today's polemic climate?
To recap: Romney's main obstacles to the Republican nomination are his embrace of health care reform and a belief system that claims Jesus blessed the United States. If they find out he's been married to the same woman for 42 years, his nomination is toast.
No wonder he's calling Obama the most ineffective president ever; Romney's doing what he has to do to get a shot. I actually feel kind of bad for him. Kind of.
This is going to be an interesting cycle. Interesting in the sense that the Pacific Ocean is wet.
