Is it OK if I say you're good at this?

i don't know why this reminded me of it, but you really should post Master Debating. a little long for a blog entry, yes, but completely worth it.

Hey...I just saw that Cindy Sheehan has an ad on TV...maybe she's had one for awhile and I just haven't seen it, but anyways, I thought it was awesome...you can go to www.familiesforpeace.com and check it out. At least now she can get out what she has to say..too bad good ol' Mr. Pres is too scared to let her say it to his face. I hope her son would be proud of her! I sure would if it was my mom.
And by the way...nice art work!

notice how the right was screaming how the left propped her up just to use her story and exploit her for political gain (which is bullshit, of course) and now they dig up another mom with four sons in the war who supports the prez.

where's goblin, i'm sure he'd comment on this.

Phillip said...

also, the people taking buses to crawford to protest the protest are being funded by republicans. who's funding us???

Hey phizz, I didn't want to let you down.

Seems as though her cause is bringing out the best groups of people. I say, more power to her! Let all the US hear what she has to say and those who lend their support!

Particularly, Al Sharpton and White Supremecists grab my attention. What about you?

Phillip said...

what do you have against al sharpton? he's hilarious. white supremicists aren't as funny, but i don't know why they're relevant here.

actually i do miss strom thurmond. he was a hoot.

Cindys son is a hero and I will be forever grateful....as far as cindy is concerned, shes just a puppet on a string for losers of the liberal party... maybe the next terrorist attack, and there will be one , land dead square on people like her. want to fight it here or there, the only two choices you have.

Always nice to hear from a good and loving American. These times must be like paradise for you. I'm glad they are for someone.

no im just a realist, and know that the muslim extremeists just love you guys. if cindys son could hear what she has to say right now, he would disown her. you people just love to give aide and comfort to the enemy dont you! as a former member of the 1st Inf. Div. i know how he feels, and i know what it means to have our country behind us. freedom is a privlage not a right and in order for this world to come together and live in peace we have to let the extremeist know that the world will not put up with terrorism. maybe i was a little harsh with my comment about cindy but when the next terrorist attack comes i pray its people like her and not my family that has to suffer because of the message that you people are sending.

Mark/anonymous, I can't believe you would really think that I somehow love the terrorists or that they somehow love me. For what reason, because I support a mother who cares about her deceased soldier son? You can accuse her of being a publicity hound, but the fact is that Bush's failure to meet with her gave her more ammunition than she ever could have mustered on her own.

Only in a warped neocon mind could questioning the war (that is killing our soldiers for no reason) be equal to hating the troops. Am I supposed to believe that the troops want us to blindly want them to stay there? I have talked to enough Iraqi veterans to dissuade that argument. Trust me.

People like Cindy Sheehan are all we have as a country to keep us from completely morphing into an endlessly imperialist and warmongering country. Maybe if the right would listen once in a while, we wouldn't always have to be afraid of terrorist attacks. Last I checked, thumbing our nose at the rest of the world, lying to get into war and then hurting ourselves through governmental incompetence back home is not the best way to get the world on our side.

I do, however, admire you for being able to speak for the dead. I wish I had that talent.

2973 infidels died on sept 11. Either you are a infidel or a muslim,if you are a muslim you are mandated to kill as many infidels as possible,
if you are a infidel then you are the target. Tell the survivors of 911 to sit back and hope that the terrorist attacks hopefully will stop. Sit back like Clinton did and you see what you get. What keeps this country strong is our conviction of human rights for all people in this world. Continue to sit back and hope will not accomplish this. This is not a left or a right war... it is a war the world must fight in order to allow governments of all countries to be run by the people,for the people,and not for dictatorships that create these problems. Do not be nieve enough to think this is Bushs war, fact is 8 years of Clinton gave these people more ammunition than you will ever see Bush give. Standing up to these terrorists is your only hope, as history will show, to stop this madness. Eighter you support this action or you just sit back and hope. Keep your eyes on cnn because its just started no matter whos in office. Mark Jones/ anonymous{forgot password}

Mark, here's the facts:

1) In 2001, the Clinton administration was derided by the Ashcroft Justice Dept. for spending too much time chasing Osama bin Laden and his operatives. Indeed, Ashcroft himself didn't consider al-Qaida a priority at all before 9/11. Indeed, every time Clinton took action against middle-eastern terrorism, Republicans accused him of "wagging the dog" to divert attention from Monica Lewinsky. Remember that? I sure do.

You could accuse Clinton of being complacent when the WTC was first bombed and when the USS Cole was attacked in 2000. But as I recall, in both instances the guilty parties were swiftly apprehended, and it didn't take two wars and the loss of thousands of people to do so either.

2) I do not at all understand the rose-colored thinking that allows you to think Clinton is to blame for this terrorism while Bush gets a free pass. Terrorists don't generally care who our president is, I'll admit. But the fact remains that Bush handled the 9/11 crisis as badly as anyone could have done it, with swift retaliation before the smoke cleared, and in the process starting two wars, one of which was unrelated and surrounded by lies and futility. Now Iraq is one of the biggest breeding grounds of terrorism out there, which it wasn't before Bush decided to "save" it. If that's Bush's idea of taking action, then he should take a little less action, thanks.

But Mark, I do have to admire your resolve to not sit back and take this. I assume that you are military or are about to enlist. I, for one, do not agree with the war in Iraq and I don't think anyone should be fighting it. That's my reason for not fighting. What's yours?

Fact #1 Saddam Hussien invaded quate to capture the oil fields thus placing uncertainty on many countries economies . Fact # 2 The United Nations placed resolutions on Iraq. Fact #3 Iraq defyed the United Nations resolutions for over ten years Fact #4 Coalition forces took action Fact #5 Afganistan was invaded by U.S. forces because that is where Al-quieda command was operating. Fact #6 If Bill Clinton hadn't pointed his finger at the American people and lied straight to thier faces he would not have gone through what he caused. Fact #7 Clinton had Bin-lauden gifted wrapped on a silver platter and turned it down. Fact # 8 The Clintons loathed our military forces and were more worried about fundraisers than anything else. Fact #9 The people of the United States got very tired of the demorcratic mouthing. Fact # 10 The american people voted the demacratic party out of office because of the pothetic comments coming out of the demecratic parties mouths. Fact # 11 Dont worry about being beheaded anymore, political correctness has reached the terrorists now they just shoot you in the head Mark Jones

Fact #1--"Quate?" Come on, at least learn how to spell "Kuwait" before trying to engage me in debate. Anyway, Saddam is hardly the first leader to lead the state of the economy into uncertainty.

Facts #2 and 3--The U.S. had to violate UN rules to attack Iraq for violatiing UN rules. Double standard?

Fact #4--The coalition does not ount, either as an official UN entity or a stand-alone "fact"

Fact #5--Afghanistan has nothing to do with Iraq. One invasion was justified, the other wasn't. The right always talks about both as if they are the same war. Not even close.

Fact #6--The Lewinsky scandal was a desperate attempt by the GOP to nab Clinton on anything at all after Kenneth Starr's leads led to nothing. Anyway, this "rebuttal" doesn't negate the fact that the right jeered Clinton when he tried to fight terrorism, strictly for partisan reasons.

Fact #7--bin Laden was not a wanted man back then, or at least not on the scale that he is now. Anyway, no president is innocent of this, because we never know who needs to be captured before they do anything.

Fact # 8--This isn't even a fact. It is your opinion. By your logic, however, you must despise Bush/Cheney, who were attending fundraisers and taking vacations both during the terrorist attacks and during the hurricanes.

Facts #9/10--As I recall, it took massive amounts of legal wrangling for Bush to get any kind of victory in 2000. Hardly what I'd call a wholesale rejection of the Democratic Party by Americans.

Fact #11--It never ceases to amuse me when right-wingers think I want to be killed by terrorists or something. But I can understand where that anger comes from, because most assassins in the past hundred years have been from the far-right.

Yuo have no facts to back your facts prove them!

Ian McGibboney said...

That's a brilliant comeback from someone whose "facts" were pretty easily debunked.

Anonymous said...

you have not debunked anything........outlandish accusations are the reason the american people will no longer back your party keep up the good work.

Anonymous said...

If you can try to, forget about debating with your emmotions, use only fact and logic. When your emmotional reasoning continues not to work, you guys still have your personnel attacks to fall back on.

Ian McGibboney said...

Well, you could argue that I have debunked nothing. Your "facts" were fluffy GOP talking points, and old ones at that. Which was my point exactly--they're basically nothing. But I still think I debunked them as much as could be done.

On the other hand, you seem to think that just repeatedly saying I'm wrong makes me so. Why don't YOU back up your arguments if you're so certain? I'm confident in mine. And where have I attacked you even once on a PERSONAL (not "personnel") level? I don't even know who you are!

And I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the left; your golden child has 37 percent support right now, and he barely won as it is with 51 percent. Forty-nine percent of the public is a lot of people for a supposed fringe group.

still can identify facts huh

This should be your chance to nail me to the wall, since I'm obviously out of touch with reality as you say. Alas, you have lost me.

First, learn how to spell and use grammar, and then have something to contribute to the debate like you did earlier. Otherwise, we don't have an exchange.
