Reminds me of the time I'm driving in my car with my sister in the middle of the boonies. We see a sign on the side of the road that says "Watch Children." Without missing a beat my sister says aloud, "Yeah, we'll watch children... as we HIT them." Makes me giggle every time.
I think someone should write in to the Advertiser and try to argue this editorial's point. Really emphatically too, such as, "I don't give ONE DAMN about the children! If they're not looking and pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, then they deserve to be hit! How can you dare suggest otherwise?"
You know what? With the letters our local papers get, I doubt anyone would bat an eye.
